We know that St. Blaise was a bishop and martyr. He was persecuted and forced to live as a hermit. Legend tells the story of St. Blaise living with the wild animals whom he tamed. As he was being taken to prison, a mother came with her child who had a fish bone lodged in his throat. At Blaise’s command the child was able to cough up the bone. Therefore, we ask St. Blaise for his protection. Blessing of the Throat will be administered after the 8:30 am Mass on Thursday, February 3, 2011. |
