ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL(ACA) 2011 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL UPDATE Here’s an update for our parish participation in this year’s appeal. If you have not made a pledge yet, please consider doing so now. It is not too late to do so. Remember that anything contributed above goal is returned back to the parish. There are always a few projects that need to be done and without your help this will not be possible to accomplish! GOAL: $ 44,672 PLEDGED: $40,085 NUMBER OF DONORS: 137 As I had mentioned in the past if each and every parishioner did their part in the appeal we would far surpass our goal. This, also, is a sign to the diocese that we are a caring and vibrant community of faith. Remember there are 800 families who receive contribution envelopes so we should have far more than 137 pledges to date. Many thanks for all your support for without that financial support we cannot continue to serve the spiritual needs of our community. I stated at the beginning of the appeal, I would like to do a few projects in the church and this will only be accomplished with funds that come back to the parish when we go over goal! Original Message: Dear Parishioners: We have been celebrating the holy season of Lent for the past few weeks and I pray that this time so far has been fruitful for you. Prayer, penance, and works of charity are all hallmarks of this time of grace. I ask you to consider prayerfully at this time your commitment to the 2011 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL of the Diocese of Brooklyn. Bishop DiMarzio has chosen the theme “ONE BREAD…ONE BODY…ONE VIBRANT CHURCH.” Participation in the annual appeal is a common way for the Catholics of Brooklyn and Queens to follow a calling to be living examples of the Gospel through returning a portion of their God given time, talent and treasure. St. Pancras’s goal for the Appeal has gone up slightly this year: $ 44,673. Last year, there were 244 donors who pledged $71,085 and actually paid $68,350. Remember that the amount over goal is returned to the parish. This is certainly a great help to us since this parish has no other fundraising events as so many others do! By contributing to the ACA you help both your fellow Catholics in the diocese and your fellow parishioners here! Many people in our parish are very generous when it comes to ordinary offerings and in this appeal. I thank you for this, but more importantly will God our Father. We send out 835 sets of envelopes for offertory collections. Just imagine if everyone makes a pledge to this appeal. The pledge is payable over a ten month period. For those who have not participated in the past may I make this suggestion. Would it be possible to pledge a minimum of $5 per week over the total 40 weeks that the pledge can be paid, that would be a commitment of only $200! 835 x $200 would be a total of $167,000!!! If everyone did their part we would surely exceed our goal and have a great return for our parish of St. Pancras. Two major projects we could then accomplish would be painting the vestibule and stairways to the choir loft and moving the Blessed Sacrament Tabernacle back to the sanctuary area. Only with your help will this be possible! Please consider prayerfully your sacrificial commitment to this important instrument of continuing the priestly ministry of Christ the Lord. Sincerely yours,
Monsignor Wielunski |
